Our story

years feeding
Portland

This started with a belief: when we share what we have, there will always be enough.

Feed the Mass began in 2016 as a culinary education initiative: putting real food skills in the hands of Portland neighbors, one class at a time. From those early cooking programs, a movement grew. Week after week, the work expanded until the organization was producing 7,000 meals each week for people across the city.

What we learned along the way changed everything. People didn't just want a meal. They wanted to cook, to learn, to make things with their hands, to be well, to start something of their own. They wanted a neighborhood that felt like a neighborhood.

In March 2026, we broke ground on that answer. Nourish opened as a gathering place where cooking education, arts programming, wellness, and community support all live under one roof. Not a service delivered to the neighborhood, but a place built by and for it. The table is being set. Pull up a chair.

Born from Feed the Mass. Building something Old Town has never had.

What we believe

Old Town's gathering place: a warm table where neighbors of every background belong.

We blend affordable cooking education, arts programming, wellness, and small business support under one roof. Grounded in the belief that community is not a luxury, but a birthright.

01

A place with layers

Some things at Nourish are open to anyone who walks through Old Town: the ground floor market, the coffee, the bookstore, the common space. Others, like member offices, studio access, and exclusive programming, are for founding members. Both are essential. That is how a real social house works.

Nourish is designed for makers, entrepreneurs, and creatives who need more than a desk. A kitchen incubator for food business founders, studio space for artists, programming that connects ideas to community. This is where the next thing gets made.

Questions

What neighbors usually ask

Do I need to live in Portland to come?

Not even close. Nourish sits right below the iconic Stag sign in Old Town and draws from the whole Portland metro. If you can get to downtown Portland, you can get to Nourish.

What is a social house, exactly?

Think of it as a building with layers. The ground floor is open to the neighborhood: coffee, a bookstore, a market, public programming. Upper floors and certain programs are for members only. Both sides exist together. That is what makes it a place rather than just a venue.

What do members get that the public does not?

Member offices on the second floor, priority access to all programming, studio and kitchen incubator access, and a community of other founders and creatives building in the same building. Membership details and pricing are being finalized. Get on the list to hear first.

What's the connection to Feed the Mass?

Feed the Mass has been feeding Portland for a decade, producing 7,000 meals each week at its peak. Nourish grew directly from that work and those relationships. Same belief, new form: a permanent gathering place built on everything Feed the Mass discovered the neighborhood needs.

Can I rent space for my own event or business?

Yes. Coworking desks, meeting rooms, event space, and education rooms are available now through Feed the Mass. Nourish space and programming will open in stages. Get in touch to find out what is bookable today.
